As I walked into my patients' room this morning pushing my massive machine bedside, I see a sweet faced 88 year old women. She immediately spoke, with a high pitch mousy voice, "why, that's quite the contraption you've got there!" I replied by saying, "It is actually a time machine! What year would you like to go back in time to?" She looked at me confused, yet still answered "Well, if I can go back in time, but keep the knowledge I have now..(pause)..well, then...I'd like to be 21 again." I asked her why and she said she'd make smarter decisions knowing (now) it would significantly affect her future. I then proceeded to tell her I was going to scan her arteries. Not nearly as exciting, but definitely a vital exam.
If I could learn something from this lovely old women, It would be to really pray about daily actions & decisions that are to be made. Everything we do affects our future one way or another, agree?
